Last week's board was much better than this week. You always like it when two of the three elite teams play each other, and the other is on the road. But when you have elite teams at home to any of the 5 weak teams, you are going to get big spreads that are hard to figure out.
6pt Teaser: BC Lions +14.5 & Montreal Alouettes -1 (-110) -- 1 unit: So for the first time this year, and something that will definitely not become a trend, I will tease the CFL. I'm not a Jarious Jackson fan, but he does certain things that should keep this game close. First, if he does turn the ball over, it's not likely to come back for 7... it's more likely to be a 50 yard pass downfield, or he'll just throw the ball away. Jackson also has enough faith in guys like Geroy and P. Jackson to throw the ball up and let them do the work (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VCV-66f2Vjg). Against arguably the worst secondary in the league, this isn't a bad strategy. As Powerz said, the Lions managed to keep Durant and Cates in check in their first meeting. With the Lions holding a very underrated secondary they should hopefully be able to keep the game close. Reasons I like Montreal are outlined in my other play.
Montreal Alouettes -7 (-110): 1 unit: On paper, it looks to be a solid matchup between two teams separated by only one win. But c'mon, let's be serious here, this is a lop sided matchup. We can start with the first game between the two, when Calvillo was 30/36 for 394 yards in what was a laugher. Montreal is a pass first team, one of the best in the league, against a secondary that has been torched time and time again for a lot of yardage. Yes, Toronto has shown the ability to make the big play on defence, but that's not against a veteran like Anthony Calvillo. The other mismatch is Toronto's running game against Montreal's run defence. Toronto is a run first team, but they are going up against arguably the best run defence in the league. This will force Cleo Lemon to put the ball up in the air, and you better believe Montreal has watched game tape from last week... where it seemed like half of Lemon's yardage was on the play action quick dump off pass. I just don't see Toronto sticking with the Als, even if they are at home.
